Antarctica

Starting a business is difficult. Starting a business in Alaska adventure tours is even harder because our season runs only about 100 days.

As we look back on our 10 years running Exposure Alaska, we have to consider ourselves fortunate to have been a part of the United States Antarctic Program for most of those 10 northern winters.

In addition to having winter jobs, our time on "The Ice" has given us extraordinary opportunities to see and do things and make some great friends. We've flown on helicopters to spectacular places that few get to see, managed remote field camps in the middle of nowhere, helped launched NASA balloons into near-space and worked on building a Neutrino Telescope at the South Pole.

Dropped off by helicopter in the middle of nowhere. Below, our home for 100 days.
More on our season at Odell Glacier.

Launching a NASA Long Duration Balloon. Once it reaches it's altitude of over 20 miles, it will be as big as a football stadium.

Research ship, active volcano, helicopter and... a penguin.

It's all north from here. Yes, there really is a pole at the South Pole.

Sea kayaking tours in Prince William Sound. Ice climbing, glacier treks and glacier tours on the Matanuska Glacier.
