About Exposure

Are you experiencing a challenging transition in your life?

Do you often find yourself saying, " I just want to get into my car and go, go, go and never come back?" Do you yearn to rekindle what it's like to be young, free and dancing on the edge?

Then come,
Step out of your routine and join a community of women as we journey together to explore our inner frontiers along the wild frontier of Alaska.

Before your plane even leaves the ground, your journey of personal discovery begins with a private coaching session and guided journaling.

Once in Alaska, leave your daily responsibilities behind. Healthy, scrumptious meals will be prepared especially for you. Transportation, logistics, instructions and equipment will be provided by our expert Exposure Alaska guides.

You will be free to explore yourself as we gently hike in the Talkeetna Mountains, learn how to climb the Matanuska Glacier, raft the Matanuska River, and sea kayak in Prince William Sound. Ending of course with a day of pampering in one of Alaska’s premier resorts.

Your Facilitators:
Wendy B. White and Lisa Marie Main, your Alaska Adventure facilitators and personal coaches, pride themselves in being successful business partners and best friends since 1988.

Adventure Details

Each day of the “Journey” will include morning and evening meditation, stretching, journaling and intrapersonal coaching and guiding.

We will spend three nights at the scenic and semi-rustic Kings River Base Camp (KR), nestled against the Talkeetna Mountains, just north of Anchorage. KR offers large tent camping, cots with foam mattresses, outhouse, "greenhouse" shower, and wood-fired hot tub.

We will refresh ourselves one night at a cozy B&B so we’re ready to embark on a sea kayaking adventure and a night of rustic rain forest camping in Prince William Sound. Our final night we will be pampered and enjoy fine dining at the Alyeska resort in Girdwood, where we can enjoy massages, manicures, saunas and hot tubs.

The Week's Itinerary

Saturday, 16 July - Guests fly into Anchorage. Overnight accommodations on your own (we can make recommendations).

Sunday, 17 July. - Pick up guests in Anchorage, transport to Kings River Base Camp (KR). Welcome, orientation, short day hike, begin to get to know each other.
Sleep at KR.

Monday 18 July. - A day on the Matanuska Glacier. We'll use mountaineering crampons to trek and explore out on the ice. For those guests interested, this is your opportunity to learn the skill and art of ice climbing; our step-by-step teaching approach will get you climbing vertical ice by the end of the day. Soak those challenged muscles in the hot tub at Kings River for the night.

Tuesday 19 July. - We'll spend the day hiking in the spectacular alpine terrain of the Talkeetna Mountains. Wildflowers, wildlife and exceptional views. Return to KR for the night.

Wednesday 20 July. - After a leisurely morning at camp, we'll enjoy an exciting afternoon whitewater rafting on the Matanuska River. This is a classic Alaskan, glacier-fed Class III river. (Dry suits provided to make this a comfortable and fun trip.) Tonight will be at a comfy B&B in the area. After a chance to clean up, we'll sample a bit of "local color" at the King Mountain Lodge. You'll fit right in with the climbers, rafters and guides that frequent this historic road house.

Thursday 21 July. - We start the day with a drive through Anchorage and along spectacular Turnagain Arm (looking for Beluga Whales, mountain sheep, eagles and moose). This drive then takes us through a mountain to Prince William Sound and our sea kayaking adventure. We'll paddle past waterfalls and glaciers, stop to pick fresh berries, and look for otters and eagles. Tonight we'll camp on wooden tent platforms in the lush rainforest. (There is an outhouse at the camping area).

Friday 22 July. - Fresh coffee and blueberry pancakes start the day at our kayak camp. After a short paddle we'll be picked up by a water taxi for return to "civilization" via an incredible scenic route that will include traveling past ice bergs and close to huge calving glaciers. This afternoon, you'll check into the Alyeska Prince Hotel in Girdwood for some well-deserved pampering and a celebration dinner that evening.

Saturday 23 July. - Spend a relaxing morning at the hotel and exploring Girdwood before we return to Anchorage for flights home. (Many flights out of Alaska depart at night.)
